How to Measure
Your Kitchen
(5 Easy Steps — No Experience Needed)
STEP 1: Measure the Walls
Take a tape measure and measure each wall, from one corner to the other.
Write the number down.
Measure every wall, even if there’s a window or door in the way.
Write those numbers down
STEP 2: Mark Doors & Windows
Measure the width of each door and window
Measure how far each one is from the nearest wall corner
Write those numbers down
STEP 3: Measure Floor to Ceiling
Measure from the floor straight up to the ceiling
Take this measurement in at least two different spots
If the numbers are different, write both down.
STEP 4: Note Appliances & Plumbing Locations
Mark where these items currently sit along each wall:
Sink
Stove / range
Refrigerator
Dishwasher
You don’t need exact plumbing measurements — just where each appliance starts and ends.
STEP 4: Draw a Simple Kitchen Sketch
Draw a rough, top-down sketch of your kitchen:
Label wall lengths
Mark doors and windows
Show appliance locations
This does not need to be neat, scaled, or pretty.
